Samsung Google Nexus S Announced: Everything You Need To Know



Google has officially announced and released moments ago the Google Nexus S which is a successor to Nexus One. It is the first phone powered by the newly released Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

Gingerbread is the fastest version of Android yet and it delivers a number of improvements, such as user interface refinements, NFC support, a new keyboard and
text selection tool, Internet (VoIP/SIP) calling, improved copy/paste functionality and gyroscope sensor support.

The official Google product page for the Nexus S is now up-and-running and specs include a 4-inch WVGA display, a 5-megapixel camera, 16GB on-board storage and 512 MB of RAM. It runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread and has a 1GHz Cortex A8-based Hummingbird processor.

The phone will be available for purchase after December 16th in the US, and December 20th in the UK. It will be the first Android device which will support NFC in both hardware and software.

Customers in US will be able to purchase Nexus S for $529 as an unlocked phone without a contract. Nexus S optimized for T-Mobile’s network is available for $199 with a two-year service agreement and qualifying voice and data plan. In UK, at £35 on contract, and £549 for the unlocked version.
